Description |
Japanese folding screen painted with scenes of the Tale of Heike, 17th-19th century. Six-panel folding screen has painted and gilded scenes on paper adhered to a wood backing. Screen depicts a panoramic scene of a sea battle, with small areas of land on either side of a deep blue body of water and gold cloud-like forms throughout. Numerous boats of warriors armed with bows and arrows are pointed to the left side of the scene, as mounted warriors await on the wooded land. |
