Description |
American hanger sword owned by James Taylor (d. 1798), an officer in the Massachusetts militia during the Revolutionary War, ca. 1750-1775. Single-edged, slightly curved blade with a narrow, deep single fuller along the top of the blade on both sides. Brass hilt has four slots in the guard, a separate outward branch on the right side of the knuckle bow, and a flat pommel cap. Cherry grip is tapered towards the pommel with brass ferrules at both ends. |
